Onto the role
The HR Advisor reporting into the Senior HR Manager, is a crucial role in the Human Resources team. You will act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers providing HR advice and support on all HR matters in the employee life cycle, including but not limited to, onboarding, employee engagement and retention, wellbeing, learning and development, employee relations, leave management, cyclical HR activities (e.g. goalsetting/annual appraisal, promotion, salary review, and annual incentive), and offboarding.
The HR Advisor role requires someone who is highly organised with excellent communication skills, who enjoys variety and working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Onboarding: Coordinate the employee onboarding process with support from the HRSS team. This includes ensuring that all new starter documentation and information is received and uploaded onto our HR systems, sending out Welcome packs, conducting HR inductions, liaising with relevant stakeholders (e.g. IT, Line Manager, Buddy) on onboarding arrangements, completing right to work checks, and adding new starters to the payroll and benefits dashboards.
- HR Support: Be the first point of contact for both employees and managers on general HR queries, provide accurate, relevant and timely advice on the interpretation and implementation of our HR policies and procedures.
- Employee Relations: Provide advice and support to managers on employee relations issues (e.g. sickness absence, performance and discipline) ensuring that these are managed fairly, consistently and in line with the company’s policies, best practice and employment law, escalate more complex cases to the Senior HR Manager as appropriate.
- Wellbeing: Support managers and employees with Wellbeing-related concerns, offering guidance where appropriate or sign-posting onto professional help (e.g. the EAP). Lead, develop and champion the Wellbeing programme within Foolproof with support from the Wellbeing Champions.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration: Manage the monthly payroll and benefits process with the Finance team to ensure accurate and complete data on people, salaries and benefits for the monthly payroll.
- Leave Management: Manage all family leave (e.g. maternity, adoption, paternity, shared parental) applications and flexible working requests in line with company policies and procedures.
- Cyclical HR activities: Support the Senior HR Manager in aligning and managing the cyclical HR processes, e.g. goalsetting, annual appraisals, promotions, salary reviews and annual incentives.
- Learning and Development: Liaise with our internal L&OD team and external training partners to organise regular training.
- HR Audits: Together with the Senior HR Manager, accurately collate all data required for internal and external audits (e.g. ISO, SOC & Payroll). Attend audit meetings as required to answer any questions from the auditors.
- HR Projects: Participate in cross-functional HR projects as required and be proactive in initiating improvement projects within the HR department.
- HR Metrics/Employee Surveys: Support the Senior HR Manager in analysing key people metrics and employee happiness surveys, identifying trends and creating action plans to improve business performance and drive employee engagement. Be a culture ambassador within Foolproof, actively participating in and contributing to cultural events.
- HR policy and process development: Continually review and revise Foolproof’s HR policies and procedures to reflect current employment law and best practice. Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR systems and processes to make them more efficient and user-friendly and to enhance the employee experience.
- Offboarding process: Own the end-to-end offboarding process with support from the HRSS team. This includes briefing line managers on the exit process, updating leaver details on the payroll and benefits dashboards, quality checking resignation acknowledgement letters, conducting exit interviews and sharing the subsequent report/ feedback.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role deemed necessary by the Senior HR Manager.
Your experience
- 3 years plus generalist HR experience in a fast-paced UX design, Tech or IT services company.
- Knowledge and competence in interpreting and applying employment law and best practices, sound judgement, and ability to find pragmatic solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to produce clear, concise written communications.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated excellent customer focus, with a pro-active, positive, action-orientated, and ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Demonstrated strong organisational skills, a commitment and ability to follow tasks through to completion, the ability to work in a methodical and detailed manner, whilst managing and prioritising multiple and sometimes conflicting tasks.
- Strong professionalism understands confidentiality and acts with integrity in all dealings.
- Experience providing HR support across multiple geographical regions desirable.
- Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment.
- Intermediate / advanced MS Office suite experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Willing to learn new processes and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, HR or psychology preferred.
- CIPD qualification (part or fully qualified) desirable.
