Onto the role 

Software Engineers provide the foundation of our high velocity engineering practice. They help our clients transform their software development practices using modern engineering approaches, while carrying out cutting edge software design and development. This work is often achieved through the delivery of software or component products with pragmatic but innovative approaches baked in.

We are looking for an individual to join one of our long standing client to lead their key workstream programme, as a Lead, Principal Front-end Developer. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team and fundamental parts of the application architecture, including decisions on libraries, 3rd party tools + APIs, along with hands-on experience on HTML, CSS and JS, building responsive prototypes and leading the way in new technologies.  

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to solve user interface challenges in responsive code across devices and breakpoints. 
  • Responsible for front end and fundamental parts of the application architecture, including decisions on libraries, 3rd party tools + APIs, asynchronous behaviour, performance.
  • Create, shape  and maintain a single, holistic and shared understanding of a domain and its evolution,  encompassing people, processes, data and technology
  • Responsible for running across functional UX & UI teams with up to 10 members on each project. 
  • Work with our technical partners and client in-house development teams.
  • Confirm, challenge and critique the feasibility of the designs we produce.
  • Understand new technologies and techniques and actively share knowledge with the business.
  • Present and rationalise solutions to clients and internal stakeholders. Estimate and scope build activities, in collaboration with our Project Management and Client Services teams. 
  • You will be able to set up a QA process for front end feature development and testing of those features before handing them over to application teams for integration. 
  • Work directly with teams and client, continually shaping and adapting to ensure the outcome maximises value to users and the organisation.

Your experience

  • Extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams, Front End developers and Designers in a number of work streams as a part of a larger programme.
  • Good understanding of a broad range of technologies and  business sectors
  • Experience and continues desire to remain a hands-on leader within the         Front End discipline demonstrating the experience of writing quality front-end code 
  • Commercial experience with one or more javascript languages including React, Angular, Typescript or ViewJS.
  • Experience with Styled components. Experience with Atomic Design or other CSS architectures such as ITCSS, OOCSS.
  • Experience working with API integration.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools is beneficial.
  • Good knowledge of revision/version control systems (E.g. Git).
  • An understanding of UI design and an understanding, and appreciation of, user experience design methodologies.
  • An interest in design and a desire to take an active part in the design process, rather than starting to code after designers have finished their work. 
  • The ability to recommend the right development approaches and deliverables.
  • Experience to easily communicate and convey ideas to a wide audience, switch between different problem spaces and responsibilities
